Valerio Adami is a prominent European painter whose works have been discussed by authors such as Octavio Paz, Italo Calvino and Carlos Fuentes.
According to the Swedish poet Lasse Söderberg, “Adami is the maestro of the unadulterated line.” Indeed, Adami manages to charge his art with detail and expressivity whilst using a simple, yet skillfully manipulated outline. His style reflects the influence of French Cloisonnism, as well as of Roberto Matta and Wifredo Lam.
Passion is a recurrent theme throughout Adami’s oeuvre. In "Il Bacio", or "The Kiss", the saturated shade of yellow that dominates the picture and the surface that resembles stained glass suggest that love is sacred and timeless.
