The Auction Highlights from the Teodora (Dodi) Bernea Collection proposes some of the greatest names in Romanian contemporary art. Horia Bernea’s most representative motifs, including “The Prapor”, “The Hill” and “The Columns” are featured alongside Ioana Bătrânu’s intense imagery. Paul Neagu, former mentor of Anish Kapoor, makes his presence felt through a quintessential work, “Logo”. The complex oeuvre of Ion Grigorescu is illustrated through diverse works ranging from “Icon” to “The Death of Nicolae Ceaușescu”. Meanwhile, Prolog group founders Horea Paștina and Mihai Sârbulescu delight with their delicate brushstrokes. The auction is charged with poetry thanks to Ruxandra Grigorescu’s lyrical depictions of “April flowers” and “Moments in the Garden”, whilst Teodor Rusu’s exquisite renderings of nature recreate the landscapes once adored by the Poiana Mărului School.
