Corneliu Michăilescu was a Romanian painter, sculptor, graphic artist and writer. For more than 30 years, he was part of the Romanian public and cultural life. Michăilescu was an important promoter of the inter-war avant-garde movement. An acquaintance of Tristan Tzara and Marcel Janco, the artist started approaching the principles of the avant-garde movements at Zurich, where he joined the constructivist group in 1924.
