Lavacow is a subsidiary of the Artmark International BV, based in the Netherlands. The founding team is composed of the Artmark shareholders (Alexandru Bâldea and Manuela Plăpcianu) and Cristina Olteanu.
An ex-partner with various law firms based in Bucharest and passionate art collector, Alexandru Bâldea co-founded the Artmark Auction House in 2008. A successful business model, Artmark became in several years the leader of the Romanian art market, a position it has maintained ever since. Alexandru is co-founder of the ArtSociety cultural center, co-initiator of the Romanian art market index and shareholder in Art Safari Bucharest, the first professional Romanian art fair. Since 2010, Alexandru is Associate professor for the Romanian Art Market Course at the Art History Faculty of the University of Bucharest.
Trained as an economist in Romania and the UK, with a background in banking and financial services, Cristina Olteanu joined Artmark in 2010. Cristina has been responsible for the development of some of Artmark's major projects, including the founding and development of the first Romanian Institute for Art Management. Since 2012, Cristina took over the position of COO at Artmark, being responsible with operational efficiency.
Prior to joining Artmark, Manuela had gained more than 15 years experience in management and leadership positions within relevant international financial institutions, among others: EFG Eurobank Group (CEO, 2006-2009), HVB Tiriac Bank (Deputy-Chairman–responsible with the Retail Division, 2005-2007), HVB Bank Romania (Executive Director, Head of Retail Banking Division, 2003-2005), Citibank Romania (Branch Network Manager/Management Committee Member, 2001-2003). Manuela Plăpcianu joined Artmark and took over the responsibility of CEO since 2009.
