This month, we celebrated our two year anniversary auction at the most prestigious art pavilion in Romania, the annual Art Safari Bucharest. Exactly 3 years before, in May 2014, Lavacow was launched at the first edition of Art Safari Bucharest. The centerpiece of our booth and an important attraction of Art Safari was an iconic work by Ion Țuculescu, Childhood (Landscape in Ștefănești), that dated from one of the most productive stages in his oeuvre, namely the folkloric period.
Visitors were also enticed by a 1980 Salvador Dalí bronze sculpture, the emblematic Cosmic Elephant. Alongside the elephant, five lithographs from the well-known Dalinean Horses Suite were featured, whilst Gala, Dalí's wife, surveilled us under the guise of Leda in a hand-signed lithograph.
Eugène Ionesco’s melancholic Triad contrasted beautifully with Rooster, a work full of personality created by the New York-based artist Dumitru Gorzo. Internationally renowned Romanian artist Paul Neagu delighted us with the 1973 Hand Cosmos, a true mind puzzle that approached a motif often reiterated in his work. Victor Brauner’s angular, yet elegant Fiancée Heliotropique affirmed our celebration of DADA’s centenary and completed the colourful picture called LAVACOW at Art Safari Bucharest 2016.
