Lot Notes

Ioana Bătrânu is one of the artists who, following the mid-1980s, responded to their contemporary social realities by turning toward their inner world and coming together under the new expressionist artistic trend. Significant solo shows include “Painting and Drawing”, The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Bucharest (2007) and “Margins II”, Plan B Gallery, Berlin (2013). She also represented Romania alongside Dan Perjovschi and the group subREAL in “Beyond Belief: Contemporary Art from East Central Europe”, organised at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago (1995).
