Signed lower right, in monogram, in black, "ȚUC"
The work is mentioned in the catalogue of the grand 1999 retrospective exhibition at the National Museum of Art of Romania (page 58, cat. 215).
This kaleidoscopic work is part of Țuculescu’s third and last creative period known as the “totemic” period. In it he creates a world of essential signs, of circles, spirals, and the characteristic “eyes”. Considering his training as a microbiologist, one cannot help but think that the painting’s explosions of pure colour and gesture resemble the wonders that can only be seen through a microscope.
